We love the Rivers and Mountains we get to call home.

We hope future generations will be able to explore the same forests, raft the same rivers, ski the same peaks, and yes, drink the same whisky. Help us show the world that businesses can make sustainability a top priority and still succeed.

The Sustainable Distillery Project.

At Eagle River Whisky, we are committed to sustainability in our personal lives and at work. It struck us more profoundly than ever before on our fateful trip to Scotland years ago. Of course, it was there that our interest in distilling whisky was ignited, but also, we came home different people. After that trip we gave up meat for the environment, we sold our fuel-guzzling SUV, and started composting. We just saw the world, and our place in it, differently.

We try to follow these principals in everything that we do, and are determined to make our whisky as planet-friendly as possible. We quickly realized that it would be too difficult to retrofit our current space to become the state-of-the-art, sustainable distillery we dreamt of, so we pivoted this year. We found a spot on Main Street in Minturn and, with our life savings, we bought the property. Now, we are learning from everyone who will teach us, across the globe. From wineries, breweries and other distilleries that have the same mission. We will build our new distillery from the ground up with sustainability in mind at every turn. We have some VERY big ideas and we’re going to need a lot of help along the way. If you’d like to help out, please let us know, because we can’t do this alone. In fact, it’s going to cost a boat-load of money to do this thing right!

Eagle River Coalition.

Before we even had a company, we knew who we wanted to partner with. We approached the ERC because we felt their mission was very aligned with our own. Since our start, we have given, and will continue to give, 1% of all proceeds to the ERC to help protect the Eagle and Colorado Rivers, and all the life these waterways support.

Eagle River Whisky Waste Profile (by Quarter)

As part of our commitment to sustainability, we weigh all of our waste designated for recycling, compost and landfill. We look at these values each quarter to see why some quarters are better than others and how we can improve.

Any comments? Questions? Suggestions? Criticisms? Feel free to contact us. This data is here more for us than for anyone else. But by being this transparent, we will be more accountable for our actions, and more aware of our usage and able to spot trends right away.
